The Opportunity

Are you recently qualified and looking for a broad role in an ambitious PE backed group amid a period of transformation and change?

This is a <£20m turnover group with a newly created requirement for a confident and experienced accountant to join them as Financial Controller.

Reporting to the Head of Finance you’ll be responsible for a broad and hands on remit including managing a team of 3 (at Assistant Accountant level).

You will enjoy

You will lead on all aspects of the day to day financial control and reporting for the business.  You’ll be responsible for the full kit and caboodle: delivering full management accounts, manage and report closely on cashflow, variance analysis and key commentary, heavily supporting the budget process – all of month end and year end.  You’ll be a primary contact for the auditors at Y/E.

There’s plenty of autonomy coupled with the security blanket of an on-site, highly approachable and modern-thinking Head of Finance.

It is a vibrant and aspirational SME and you will play a key role in future success.  The directors are looking for someone recently qualified with a proactive and forward-looking mindset.  You need to be hands on and comfortable drilling into the nitty gritty where required.

The business has been through a turnaround and there are continued expected growing pains – you will need to have a measured and calm approach to problem solving.

It’s a PE backed setting with excellent investment plans (shortly they will go live with a new ERP system for example) – you will need to be hyper organized and versatile.  Someone who will enjoy managing both BAU tasks and change / improvement projects.

The Business requires

As Financial Controller you will need:

  • Ability to produce detailed and credible management accounts and experience of all aspects of month end – ability to manage a small team.
  • Some experience of managing an audit (from either side of the fence)
  • Excellent IT skills including strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • A hands on approach and a sleeves rolled up approach.
  • An ability to provide strong financial information for a non-finance audience.
  • Confidence and positivity when approaching new challenges.
  • ACA / ACCA or CIMA.
